studiVZ Ltd. – Here we are

Well, we’ve grown quicker than most two year olds have! studiVZ Ltd. now has over 8 million members and includes the platforms studiVZ, schülerVZ and meinVZ. Some achievement, when you consider that the company was founded only two years ago in a small flat in Berlin.

The studiVZ Ltd. platforms have over 8 million members, including yourself. This number increases by more than 100,000 every week!

Page Requests – Clicks and Double-Clicks

With more than 6,400,000,000* page requests every month, more people click on schuelerVZ.net than any other site in the German speaking area since March 2008. Close behind in popularity is studiVZ.net, with 6,000,000,000* page requests a month. Let’s see if meinVZ can catch them up - who’ll be in front in a few months?

That makes a total of 390 million** page requests every single day – our servers are working overtime!

Our systems deliver around 530 terabytes of data to you every month. That's the equivalent of 815,000 CDs or 118,000 DVDs.

Visitors – Popping in

More than half of our members visit the site at least once every day. When you login in the evening, you’re in the company of hundred of thousands of other users, all messaging, gruscheling, linking, and commenting.

Photos – Say Cheese

More than 300 million photos have already been uploaded onto the site. Many of these photos have been linked to users – there are more than 190 million links in total. This makes us the largest photo community in Germany.

Over 1 million photos are added to the site every day. On New Year’s days 2008 this number was almost doubled – a new record: If each album contained an average of 40 photos, 50,000 albums were added on that day.

Silver Servers – Our Little Server Farm

The platforms run on 350 high performance servers with more than 1,400 processors and 4,400 gigabytes of memory. We are adding new web and database servers on a weekly basis to ensure the necessary capacity for your photos, messages, groups, and everything else.

Our servers provide a connection speed of up to 4,000 Mbits per second for our users’ files. This is the equivalent of around 2,000 standard DSL connections, which provide on average around 2 Mbits per second.

At peak times, our databases are bombarded with up to 150,000 page requests a second.

StudiVZ Ltd. – our Home

Our home is in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg district. Here you can find 120 employees working round the clock to look after the different platforms. We started small, but have grown quickly.
